Summary:

The Research & Innovation Center in Sport Physical Activity, and Health (SPRINT) was an innovative R&D unit based in Portugal, dedicated to advancing the field of Sports Sciences. Comprising a vibrant community of 83 integrated doctoral researchers, 70 collaborating members, and 24 doctoral students, SPRINT was organized into two dynamic research groups: Human Behavior & Sports Performance and Physical Activity & Sustainable Communities.
In February 2025, SPRINT will host a congress that will feature over 60 long abstracts focusing on critical topics related to sports training, exercise, and health. From these submissions, twelve outstanding long abstracts will be carefully selected to contribute to a special issue dedicated to disseminating high-quality scientific evidence in the areas of sports training, performance, physical activity, and health.
The primary goal of this special issue will be to advance knowledge in sports sciences and enhance our understanding of how these disciplines will influence societal well-being. By highlighting rigorous experimental and descriptive studies, the special issue will showcase innovative methodological practices in sports training and physical activity, emphasizing their significance in promoting health and well-being across communities.
Moreover, the selected contributions will address current challenges and innovations in sports science while exploring practical applications that can benefit athletes, coaches, and health professionals. This special issue will aim to foster collaboration among researchers and practitioners, ultimately contributing to the development of evidence-based practices that will enhance performance and encourage healthy lifestyles.
We would like to invite readers to engage with the cutting-edge research presented in this issue, which promises to be a valuable resource for anyone interested in the intersection of sports science, physical activity, and health.
